"Next Step" was purchased by Clay Creek Angus for $11,000 from the McCumber Angus Ranch in the 2000 Production Sale.

McCumber Foundation 701 is one of the most unique sires ever used at McCumber. 701 was the high-selling bull bringing $11,000 at our 1998 Bull Sale. He is sired by McCumber 124 Traveler 212, whose dam is the famous Miss Wix 365 of McCumber. Miss Wix 365 of McCumber is the foundation female in the widely known Miss Wix cow family. Miss Wix 365 of McCumber is the dam of:

* Miss Wix 903 of McCumber, the dam of VDAR Rito 953
* Miss Wix 303 of McCumber, the dam of Omaha Clint
* Miss Wix 204 of McCumber, the dam of Mr Wix of McCumber (Mr Wix is a current herd sire at McCumber.)
* McCumber 054 Rito 5009, also a major sire at McCumber.

The dam of Foundation is Miss Wix 235 of McCumber who has also produced outstanding progeny in her own branch of the Miss Wix family. Miss Wix 235 of McCumber is the grandam to Miss Wix 918 of McCumber who sold to Shady Brook in Tennessee and helped make history for them.

Miss Wix 235 of McCumber (the dam of Foundation 701) and Miss Wix 365 of McCumber (the paternal grandam of Foundation 701) are truly the foundation of the Miss Wix family. The flush sisters to McCumber Foundation 701 are beautiful young females with perfect udders, feminine heads and necks, and they are deep and powerful through their bodies. The heifer calves by Foundation 701 are just like his sisters and the bull calves are deep quartered, masculine and very powerful.
